- peanut butter to make up for the lack of it in this city and to replace dulce de leche
- tissues for every single public bathroom
- hand sanitizer for the bathrooms as well as just general day-to-day usage
- headlamp and extra batteries for the constant power outages
- deodorant...well really most American toiletries as they don't have them here or they are really expensive (for example, stick deodorant isn't really a common item in argentina. hellooooo spray deodorant.)
- a loaded Subte card and Guia "T" for all transportation needs
- a Spanish-English dictionary for those moments of panic and random Spanish words
- a phone loaded with minutes for moments of being lost and needing to find people
- a sense of humor for all the shady and uncertain moments that this city sometimes brings
- non-carb snacks for when you get sick of empanadas and medialunas and pan
- spare change for all the things in this city that only take change (this is harder as it seems as change doesn't really circulate in Argentina like it does in the US, meaning you don't get change back often)
- a backpack/large bag for carrying your laundry across town without having everyone have to see your underwear
- water, water, water and filled water bottles for the lack of places that have drinkable tap water
- layers of clothing for the constant changing weather
...Do I typically have most of these things with me? No, not really. Does this list make it sound like I live in a third-world country and not a metropolitan city? Yes, kind of.
